The Halston’s Greatest Birthday!

12.07.2019

To celebrate turning 5 we hosted the party of all parties, a circus extravaganza, a night of silly shenanigans and memory making revelry all in aid of raising funds for our Charity of The Year, Carlisle Youth Zone! Keep reading for details of the night, our final total and to see if you can spot yourself in our gallery!

A night to remember…

VIP guests were welcomed into our newly unveiled garden terrace which provided the perfect background for pre drinks and canapes. Guests were treated to a tear jerking, star performance from members of the youth zone who sang a medley of Greatest Showman Hits.

Then came the drums. Local drumming troupe DeadBeats got the party started as more guests began to arrive. Ticket holders were greeted by Emcee for the night and tour de force, Velma Von Bon Bon who towered above the crowd in stilts and a top hat.

Food and Entertainment

After a welcome glass of fizz or beer, we sat down to a delicious 3 course meal with nods to the circus theme (chocolate dumbells anyone)?
Lynsey Buckle, development manager at Carlisle Youth Zone, welcomed the crowd and delivered an inspiring speech about the important work the Youth Zone do.
Now time for the food and entertainment which consisted of a line-up of hilarity and surprises. Contortion girl twisted into some impressive shapes and wowed the crowd with her bendy performance. Snookie Mono, professional daredevil, commanded gasps as he sword (and coat hanger!) swallowed his way through the starter course while international burlesque dynamo, Miss Giddy Heights put on a playful burlesque fan display, sauntering around the room in tassels and feathers.

The fun didn’t stop there, throw in a skipping unicycle, clothes reveal of all the Village People characters to a YMCA mega mix (yes, it was a bonkers as it sounds). Fire eating and a side-splitting part aerial, part burlesque, part comedy finale and the mood in the room was jovial to the extreme.
Following that was a nail biting auction hosted by Colin West from Auction House Cumbria and music until the early hours from Bourbon Street Band who had guests up, dancing and singing along.
Not forgetting Coffee and Donuts from Bruce & Luke’s as well as ice cream from So Sweet Trees that sent guests away happy and full!

Raising the dough!
We’ve tallied up the totals and totted up the figures and are very pleased to announce we raised a grand total of £11,600 to help support young people in Carlisle this summer.

Thank yous

We have so many people to thank for making this event and the fund raising possible. Thank you to our very generous sponsors, everyone who donated an auction and raffle prize, the acts who travelled from near and far, Lynsey Buckle and the team from Carlisle Youth Zone and of course to YOU for coming along to support.
