03/07/2020 – Reopening
We’re pleased to announce that we are now accepting bookings for our apartments from 4th July. To book your stay click here. Our restaurant, Penny Blue will reopen from 9th July for lunch and dinner and then open every following Friday, Saturday and Sunday. To book a table click here. Bartons Yard continues to operate on a takeaway basis only. Open daily from 10am – 2pm for takeaway hot & cold drinks, light lunches and cakes.

The past 3 and a half months have been nothing short of bizarre for everyone. They’ve been scary at times, weird and sometimes devasting. But we’ve also seen many moments full of joy. We’ve seen our community pull together like never before and we’ve learnt so much about ourselves and one another.
Although our doors have been closed to the public, we’ve not been hibernating that’s for sure. During the lockdown, our wonderful team and volunteers helped prepare over 1,000 meals for our NHS frontline workers and our hotel remained open to support key workers. When it was deemed safe to do so, we began offering takeaway from Penny Blue and Bartons Yard which you came out strong to support us, buying Sunday Roasts to go and Ice Cream. Thank you.
We’re so pleased to be able to welcome back however we understand and respect some of you may be nervous about visiting your favourite places again. We want to assure you that we are following all the government guidelines, have carried out full risk assessments and implemented new measures to help stop the spread of COVID19.

24/03/2020 – Farewell for now
Following the announcement from the UK Government in regards to the new stay at home guidelines, our accommodation is currently reserved for key workers only. We fully support the new guidelines issued and encourage tourists not to travel to the Lakes or other Cumbrian holiday destinations. We look forward to welcoming you on the other side. Dear valued customers and friends,
Due to the current pandemic, it’s with heavy hearts we have decided to temporarily close our bar & restaurants until further notice. Our apartments and will remain open at this time.
We have tried our hardest to keep going, however, following government advice regarding social distancing, the developing situation and our promise to protect the health of our customers and employees, we now must close the doors for a while and wait for the storm to blow over. If you had a restaurant booking and have yet to be contacted, we will be in touch soon.
Despite these uncertain times, our team have continued to impress us with their resilience and ability to come together. We’re incredibly grateful for all their hard work and understanding.
This decision is truly heartbreaking; however, we hope in the next few months we will be back stronger than ever.
